FEATURE PROJECT - WHAT SOME OF THE MARKPLAN TEAM GOT UP TO DURING THE HOLIDAY BREAKClive enjoyed a successful day at the boxing day races in Ellerslie before heading off to the Coromandel for some kayaking and fishing (albeit in the rain) between Christmas and the New Year. He then headed north to relax for a few days at his recently bought bach in Tutukaka and enjoy some rare sunshine! ![]() Ah ha!... a successful day at the races, eh Clive?…so you owe us a shout, what! |
![]() Glen’s restored Townson 26 made it into the water at the end of last year. Here’s a photo of Glen and his son Henry enjoying a sail on Boxing Day. There’s no doubt about who’s Captain here, but have you ever tried executing a nappy change on a rocking vessel when the little skipper ‘s wearing a life jacket? |

James’ 2011 year was wrapped up circumnavigating the South Island over the Christmas break with his partner Liz and their camper van – a highlight would have to be the Nevis Bungy in Queenstown. This proof would not stand up in court James. Photo obviously taken from a publicity shot – James would only do this if you paid him lots of money (bids currently being taken on TradeMe). |

John Grieve and his wife, Laura, had a very international holiday which included Australia, South Africa, and Mozambique. One of the highlights was a visit to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Below are a few of his great shots. John and wife Laura beach-combing in South Africa. Laura knows that John, being an Engineer, will know exactly what to do with this piece of jetsam. For Heaven’s sake John! Do you still have to put everything new in your mouth! For your enlightenment, this is actually a piece of dried kelp – if you break off one end you can blow into it and make it sound like a trumpet. Not exactly Louis Armstrong, but music… of sorts. A shop in Mozambique, selling vegetables and plenty of drink (it’s really hot here you know!). And one of the shop assistants has fainted in the corner – either from heat exhaustion or a fondness for the top-shelf. A Kudu munching on a piece of vertebrae left behind by one of the big cats – this is to obtain his daily calcium ration. Oh, wouldn’t it be easy if all we needed to do was throw the kids a bone off the barbie. Amazing sculptures in the rockface at Sun City (a city built within the walls of an enormous crater in the North West Province of South Africa). The cracks are actually cut into the sculptures on purpose to give them a look of crumbling antiquity. |
Mark & Cheryl, together with their two girls and a group of family friends, went canoeing down the Wanganui River (in flood) during January. Here are some of their pictures from that trip.![]() Mark trying a restorative Yoga pose after a long day’s paddle down the Wanganui River. Mark remained like this for some time, his motorbiking knees locked in an uncustomary ballet plié. Cheryl enjoying making her way across some calmer waters on the Wanganui, and making landfall . BEFORE: Young, handsome male passenger helpfully paddling. ![]() AFTER: Cheryl celebrating empty canoe after tossing male overboard for intolerable backseat driving. (Mark meanwhile stuck cross-legged in another canoe). ![]() Along the banks of the Wanganui River - an example of excellence in repeat design. |
